Clara Rae Friend

Clara Rae Friend, age 75, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Clara was born on October 17, 1946 to her parents the late Bill Newsom and Ruth Adams Newsom. She was the wife of the late Gaylord Friend, a retired office manager, and a member of the Ford's Branch Church of Christ. Along with her husband and parents, Clara was preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly Delauder. Clara is survived by one son, Gaylord (Amy) Friend Jr., two daughters, Polly Flournoy, Darianna (J.D.) Gentry, two sisters, Belinda Boggs, Debbie Newsom, four grandchildren, Sarah Rae (Joseph) Wyatt, Mikey (Dottie) Ratliff, Madison Friend, Chandler Friend, seven great grandchildren, Scarlette, Victoria, Natalee, Jay, Amberlee, Gianna, and Mikynlee, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday, August 6,2022 at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Will Stepp officiating. Burial will follow at the Adams Cemetery at Pine Mountain.
