William "David" Ratliff, 70 years of age, of Phyllis, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, February 8, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born March 17, 1955, in Buchanan County, Virginia, a son of the late David M and Fonnie Daughtery Ratliff.

David was a retired self- employed coal miner and the owner and operator of Ratliff Wilco Mines. He was an avid musician and founding member of the Hilltop Line Band, owner of Hilltop Line Studios and was of the Christian faith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.

David was preceded in death by three brothers: Roger Ratliff, Leonard (Moe) Ratliff, Gary "Butch" Ratliff, and one sister, Barbara Ann Rogers.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 52 years Marylen Adkins Ratliff of Phyllis, Kentucky; daughters: Jody Estep (Al) of Phyllis, Kentucky, Julie Primeau (Hank) of Phyllis, Kentucky; one grandson, Austin Estep; two granddaughters: Adryan Estep and Emily Primeau; one great-grandson, Ryman Estep; one sister, Connie Hughes (Doug); one sister-in-law Sherelene "Red" Ratliff of Homecreek, Virginia and a host of family and friends who will miss him. 

Visitation will be Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home beginning at 6 PM with special singing at 7 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Friday at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Dewayne Abshire officiating. The burial will follow in the Adkins-Ratliff Cemetery at Phyllis, Kentucky. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
