Vivian Carol Childers passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at Pikeville Medical Center. Born on September 24, 1947, Vivian led a life marked by dedication, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her community.
Vivian was a proud graduate, having earned her Bachelor’s degree, which laid the foundation for her esteemed career as a Medical Technologist at Paul B. Hall Medical Center. Her professional life was a testament to her passion for healthcare and her deep desire to serve others, making a significant impact through her expertise and compassionate nature.
Born and raised in Pikeville, Kentucky, Vivian remained closely connected to her roots throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Lee Childers, her father, Victor Coleman, and her mother, Carrie Justice Coleman. Their memories remain a cherished part of her enduring legacy.
Vivian is lovingly remembered by her family, who carry forward her spirit and values. She is survived by her son, Robert Lee Childers II, and her daughter, Carrie Melissa McGuire. Her siblings, Dale and Brenda, Pam, and Marcia and Curtis, also survive her, providing a strong family network of love and support. Vivian’s legacy is further carried on by her grandchildren, Robbie and Haleigh, Chastity and Aaron, Thomas Rhett and Kayla, as well as her great-grandchild, Eliza. Four nieces and nephews also hold fond memories of their aunt and cousin.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 pm at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Tommy England officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery. Special services will be held on Wednesday evening at 7 PM
Vivian Carol Childers’ life was a beacon of dedication, love, and service. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew her, and her contributions to healthcare and her community will long be remembered. Her family invites those who knew her to join in remembering a remarkable woman who touched many lives with grace and compassion.
