Vernon Ray (Country Boy} Williams

Vernon Ray Williams, age 87, of Road Branch, Pikeville, Ky. passed away at the Pikeville Medical Center on Friday, August 14, 2020. Ray was born in Pike County, KY on May 11, 1933, to his parents the late Delmer Williams and Easter Smith Williams. Ray was the Pastor of Sookeys Creek Freewill Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver, known as "Country Boy". Ray served his Country Honorably in the United State Army with a Honorable Discharge. Ray was the husband of the late Mildred Williams. Ray was preceded by his wife, his parents, one son, Glen Ray Williams, one sister, Faye Williams. Ray is survived by one son, Brian Williams, Dearest Friend, Sharon Mounts, and Daughter In Law, Teresa Williams. Ray is survived by two grandchildren, Sabrina Akers, Katie Eleazer, two Great Grandchildren, Brooke Akers, Theo Akers. Ray left behind many nieces, nephews and a host of brothers and sisters in the Lord. Visitation will be at the Sookeys Creek Freewill Baptist Church Monday, August 17, 2020, 12:00 Noon. Funeral services will be at the Sookeys Creek Freewill Baptist Church, August 17, 2020, 1:00 PM with Frankie Bryant and James Justice officiating. Burial will follow in the Damron Cemetery on Sookeys Creek, Pikeville, KY.
