Paris Truman Dorton

Paris Truman Dorton passed peacefully from his earthly home into the presence of his Lord on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Pikeville Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on October 20, 1946, to the late Fred and Emma Keene Dorton, Truman lived a life marked by hard work, steadfast faith, devotion to his family, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

He shared a loving marriage of sixty years with the love of his life, Rita Kaye Dorton. Together they built a beautiful life, raised three beloved children—Darren, Shana, and Amy—and created a lifetime of faith, love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Truman was a retired barber of 33 years, an ordained minister of the Christian faith, and an avid coon hunter. Whether behind the barber’s chair, in the pulpit, or in the woods, he formed lasting friendships and was known for his kind heart, quiet strength, and genuine care for others. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Truman was preceded in death by his siblings: Fred, Pearl, Darlene, Earl, Ferrell, Eugene, and Paul Edward Dorton.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Rita Kaye Dorton; his children, Darren (Lisa) Dorton, Shana Dorton-Bartley, and Amy (Tim) Dorton-Coleman; his brothers, Eddie, Ted, David, Danny, and William Dorton; his treasured grandchildren: Kyle Coleman, Kayla Blackburn-Rowe, Kelli Dorton-Tibbs, Brandt Spears, Shaley Blackburn-DeHart, Bryce Blackburn, Alexis Bartley, Devon Bartley, and Isaiah, Drew, Annabelle, Michael, Marshall, & Gracie Coleman; and his precious great-grandchildren: Tig, Eli, RaeLynn, Josie, Beckham, Stella, Hadley, and Tyson.

His greatest joy in life was being “Pops.” He treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren and later his great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life and held a special place in his heart.

Truman will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his steadfast faith, his strong work ethic, his enjoyment of the outdoors, and the legacy of kindness he leaves behind. Though he has departed this earthly life, his love and example will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation Will be held at Lucas and son Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026 and July 1st at 6PM with special services starting at 7, Funeral will be held on Thursday July 2nd, 2026 at 11AM with Randy Bentley officiating. Pallbearers will be Darren Dorton, Kyle Coleman, Devon Bartley, Isaiah Coleman, Jeremy Dorton, Brandt Spears, and Braxton Tibbs.  Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Dorton, Ted Dorton, and Bryan Childers.
