Thelma Hamilton, age 76, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Thelma was born on March 14, 1948 to her parents the late George Tackett and Ocie Gayheart Younce. She was the wife of the late Elmer Hamilton, a caretaker, and a member of the First Christian Church on Chloe.
Along with her husband and parents, Thelma was preceded in death by one son, Elmer Donald Hamilton, one grandson, Lucas Hamilton, and three brothers, William Howell, Frelon Howell, and Teddy B. Tackett.
Thelma is survived by two daughters, Deeatra (Otis) Martin, Dessie Hamilton, her beloved dog, Pongo, two brothers, George Tackett Jr., Harvey Tackett, four sisters, Vivian Newsom, Mildred Newsom, Stella Tackett, Arbutis Tackett, five grandchildren, Kyle Hamilton, Dawn Osborne, Shelly Hampton, Austin Martin, Cameron Hamilton, six great grandchildren, Emma, Trevor, McKenna, Colt, Parker, Luka, and a host of loving family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, August 30, 2024 at 1 P.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Harvey Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in the Amos Newsom Cemetery on Robinson Creek.
