Shirley Jean Adams Meade, age 82, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Pikeville Medical Center. Shirley was born on Sept. 4, 1941, to her parents the late Alex Adams and Hazel Morgan Adams. She was the wife of the late David Jennings Meade, a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ.
Along with her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by one son, David William Meade, one brother, Earl Adams, three sisters, Naomi Ratliff, Joyce McCoy, and Mary Cantrell.
Shirley is survived by four children, Thomas (Lina) Meade, Diana (Billy) Thacker, Donnie Meade, Michelle (Kenneth) Hunter, one daughter in law, Rosa Meade, seven grandchildren, Thomas, Corey, Nicole, Wayne, Shannon, Jason, Robby, nine great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, March 15, 2024 at Lucas & Son Funeral Home at 1p.m. with Ravin Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
