Shirley Coleman Creech

Shirley Coleman Creech, born November 17, 1937, peacefully passed away on May 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy marked by dedication, faith, and steadfast devotion to family and community. Shirley served as a long-time secretary at Millard Elementary School, where her commitment and warmth left an indelible impression on generations of students, staff, and parents.

A devout Christian, Shirley's faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through trials and triumphs with grace and unwavering conviction. This spiritual foundation was among her proudest accomplishments, shaping her character and inspiring those around her.

Shirley's life journey was deeply intertwined with her loved ones. She is survived by her beloved husband, Col. Jim Creech, who stood by her side in the years following the loss of her first husband, Johnny Coleman. She cherished her daughters Dee Dee and her husband Rod, Angie and her husband Tom, and daughter-in-law Ginger. Shirley’s family also includes her sister Dora Reach, brothers Jerry Stephens, Jeff Stephens, Al Stephens, and sister Sandy Stephens Spears. Her loving lineage extends to her grandchildren Sara, Adam, Cole, Cash, Sydney, Brooklyn, and Raleigh, and the joy of her great-grandchildren Drew, Cayden, Raven, and the youngest member of the family, great-great-grandchild Paisley.

Throughout her life, Shirley was shaped by the memory of those who went before her: her father Woodrow Stephens, her mother Ruby Adams Stephens, her son Johnny Craig Coleman, and her brother Jack Stephens, whose absence is deeply felt but whose spirits remain part of her enduring story.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 5 to 8 PM at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Joey Sussan officiating.  Burial will follow in the Coleman Cemetery at Wolfpit.

Shirley Coleman Creech’s life was a beacon of faith, dedication, and love—a testament to a woman who embraced her roles in family and community with humility and strength. Her presence will be deeply missed, her memory held dear by all who knew and loved her.
