Roger Dale Newsome, a retired mechanic and beloved member of his community, passed away peacefully at his residence on November 10, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born on October 26, 1941, and dedicated a significant portion of his life to his profession as a mechanic, notably as the owner/operator of Newsome Garage in Darien, Georgia.

Roger's service to his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps exemplified his commitment and patriotism. This foundational experience shaped many aspects of his life and instilled in him the values of discipline and hard work that he carried into his civilian career.

In addition to his professional achievements, Roger cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his beloved companion, Hazel Rogers-Newsome; his daughter, Melody Newsome; his son, Lane Newsome; and his "forever daughter," Renee Young, along with two grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters, June E. Campbell and Joan E. Newsome-Hampton, who along with his surviving family provided him with love and companionship throughout his life. .

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Milford Newsome, and mother, Thelma E. Gillenwater-Newsome. He also mourned the loss of his brothers: Ken Maynard-Newsome, Larry Newsome, Lloyd James Newsome, and Amos Wayne Newsome, as well as his daughter, Carolyn Newsome.

Roger Dale Newsome will be remembered not only for his contributions to the automotive field but also for the love and support he provided to his family and friends throughout his lifetime. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service with a visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Christian Fellowship Church from 1pm - 2pm. Funeral services will be conducted the same day at 2 PM, with Neil Coleman officiating.
