Paul Henry Bennett

Paul Henry Bennett Jr., 76, of Lorton, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on April 11, 2026. Born October 10, 1949, in Alexandria, Virginia, he was a lifelong Northern Virginia resident. He graduated from West Springfield High School in 1969 and was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971. He was awarded the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

He married his sweetheart, Anita Lou, on February 12, 1972. Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors and sharing time with family and friends. In 1974, he began a long career with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, retiring as a Master Technician in 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Lou Thacker; sons Paul Henry Bennett III (born 1975) and his wife Stacie, and Matthew Bennett (born 1978) and his wife Barbara “Barbie”; and grandchildren Jack, Grace, Faith, and Kyle Bennett. He will be remembered for his humor, storytelling, love of family, and devotion to service.

A public viewing will be held Friday, April 24, 2026, from 5–8 p.m. and Saturday, April 25, 12–1 P.M., followed by a service at 1P.M. at Mountcastle Funeral Home.  Services in Pikeville, Kentucky will be announced at a later date.
