Lowell Akers

    On Monday, July 8, 2019 Lowell Akers, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away at age 76.Lowell was preceded in death by his father Edgar Allen Akers; his mother, June Damron Akers; his wife, Freda (Adams) Akers; brothers, Lonnie and Ralph; sister, Janet. He is survived by his wife Patty; his children Sherry (Matt) Dicus & Brian Akers; stepchildren, Lisa (Donnie) Tackett & Ted (Sharman) Noe; grandchildren, Meagan (Chris) Karnes, Jordan Rasmussen, & Cory Tackett; great grandchildren, Jaxson, Cameron, & Reagan Karnes; brother Sammy (Liz) Akers and numerous nieces and nephews.Lowell was born on 6/14/1943 in Virgie, KY. Before retiring, he worked as a Supervisor for Franklin County In Columbus Ohio.Lowell had a passion for fishing and traveling. He never met a stranger and will be known for his willingness to help others. Lowell loved to spend his winters in Florida with his wife Patty and enjoyed finding new places to hike. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him. Visitation will be Thursday, July 11th at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home in Pikeville, KY at 6pm, church services will be at 7pm. Visitation will also be held Friday, July 12th at the Oliver Cheek Funeral Home in Ashville, OH at 6pm. The funeral will be Saturday, July 13th at 1pm at Oliver Cheek Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Reber Hill Cemetery in Ashville, Ohio
