Dallas, Texas

Lois Alline Thacker, 89, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025. She was born on February 27, 1936, in Pikeville, Kentucky, to Ida (Robinson) and Henderson Blackburn, and was the sister to 12 siblings: Charles Blackburn*, June Bartley*, Harold Blackburn*, Phyllis Prater*, Brenda Vance, Neal Keene*, Mary Easterling*, Loma Costanzo, Barbara Overstreet*, Vicki New, Mack Blackburn*, and Tina Coleman.

Alline’s childhood was shaped by the Great Depression, where her father worked a lifetime in the coal mines of Kentucky. She spent most of her childhood years living with her beloved grandmother, Vanie Blackburn. Her grandmother shaped her formative years, and there was great love between them. She lived her adolescent/teen years with her dad and loving stepmother, Hattie Blackburn, and had sweet memories of being “Sissy” to her new sisters and brother. She later became a proud graduate of Hellier High School in 1954, where she graduated at the top of her class.

Her family lived in Pike County, where she met and married Morris Gray Thacker in 1955, at the age of 19. They subsequently moved to Trenton, Michigan, where Morris began working in the auto and steel industries. They raised three children, Kelis Thacker (Jane) of Clayton, Missouri, Gina McCurdy (John) of Garland, Texas, and Brian Thacker (Wade) of Dallas, Texas. Alline was affectionately known as Mamaw to her five grandchildren - Catherine Shiliga (Jeremy), Ryan Thacker (Sarah), Caitlin Watkins (Joe), Cameron Thacker, and Connor McCurdy- and three great-grandchildren: Jackson, Lucas, and Egan. They were the light of her life.

Faith and service were cornerstones of Alline’s life. In 1963, Alline and Morris committed their lives to the Lord and became members of the Trenton Church of Christ for over 35 years. Alline served many of those years as a teacher in the Cradle Roll and was known for her hospitality to all members of the church. She delighted in cooking many meals for the sick and loved opening up her home to friends and family.

Alline and Morris moved to Dallas, Texas, in 1997 to be near their grown children. They immediately became members of Buckingham Road Church of Christ in Garland, Texas, where Morris continues to attend.

Alline is survived by her husband of 70 years, Morris Gray, her children, 4 siblings, and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Cameshia Thomas (Meme), Alline’s caregiver, for her compassionate support in Mom’s final years.

Alline’s legacy of faith, family, and friendship will forever be remembered by those who were

blessed to know her. She will be smiled about often, deeply missed, thought of daily, and cherished immeasurably.
