Kelsey Friend

Judge Kelsey E. Friend Jr., age 77, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Kelsey was born on May 29, 1946 to his parents the late Kelsey E. Friend and Margaret Friend. He was the husband of Barbara Branham Friend, retired district court judge, and a founding member of the New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Pikeville. He also served as chairman of the Elder board for the church. Along with his parents, Kelsey was preceded in death by one daughter, Kelsie Ann Friend. Along with his wife, Kelsey is survived by one daughter, Margaret Elizabeth "Beth" Bird and her husband, Paul Bird, one son, Kelsey E. Friend III and his wife, Amanda Friend, one brother, Joe Jett (Cindy) Friend, one sister, Clarissa Friend, seven grandchildren, Emily, William, Andrew, McKinlee, Karleigh, Konner, Brayden, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church service will be Friday at 7p.m. with Greg White officiating. The funeral will be Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11 A.M. at the New Beginnings Fellowship Church with Jared Arnett officiating. Entombment will follow in the Annie E. Young Mausoleum at Shelbiana.
