Julian Adkins, age 85, of Pikeville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at his residence. He was born on August 16, 1941, the son of the late Victor and Myra Williamson Adkins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four siblings, Elzie "Hubby" Adkins, Viola Adkins, Cora Lee and Howard Adkins.
Before his retirement, Julian had been a heavy equipment operator for 54 years in both road construction as well as the coal industry. He was a member of the United Steel Workers and The United Mine Workers Association. Julian was a member of the Lick Creek Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife, Phoebe Ann Justice Adkins, by one son, Philemon Paul (Pamela) Adkins, by a granddaughter, Kassidy Loren Adkins (Luke) Ray, by one brother, Elmer Adkins, by one sister, Judy Adkins Witt, by his nieces and nephews, Dana Slone, Terry Richard Adkins and Rebecca Adkins as well as numerous of family and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, after 6 PM at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 PM at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Rick Fuller and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana.
