Johnny Strouth

Johnny Strouth, age 78, of Elkhorn City, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky.

Johnny was a man of God and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, recognizing his courage and heroism. Following his military service, Johnny continued to honor fellow veterans by participating in the presentation of Quilts of Valor, a cause that was close to his heart. He was a retired warehouse manager for Chisholm Coal Company and was faithful member of Ashcamp Church of Christ, where his faith guided his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alfleetia Mae Bartley-Strouth; his father, Luther Clinton Strouth; his sisters, Anna Justine Tackett, Janelle Goff, and Minnie Sue Strouth; his brother-in-law, Hiram Tackett; and a host of aunts and uncles.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathy Justice Strouth; his sons, Jonathan (Kristi) Strouth and Clinton (Eden) Strouth; his brother, Theodore "Danny" (Michelle) Strouth; his grandchildren, Brenya Strouth, Gage Strouth, Patrick Runion, Bentley Strouth, Johnny Strouth, and Olyvia Strouth; his great-grandson, Luke Franklin Strouth; his lifelong friend, Ray Gibson; and a host of other family members and friends.

Johnny's legacy of faith, service, and love will live on through his family, his church, and all who were blessed to know him.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 5:00 P.M. and Sunday, December 28, at 5:00 P.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 29, at 1:00 P.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Shawn Wallace and Doug Ramey officiating.  Following the funeral service military rites will be conducted by the Johns Creek DAV Chapter 166 The burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana, Kentucky.

In Lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to the Greg and Noreen Wells Bluegrass Hospice Care Center.
