John Smallwood

November 27, 1945 — April 5, 2024

     John C. Smallwood, age 78, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at the East Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard, Ky.  John was born on Nov. 27, 1945 to his parents the late John Morgan Smallwood and Erma Roberts Smallwood.  He was the husband of Betty Lou Morgan Smallwood, a retired coal miner and mine inspector, and a believer of the freewill baptist faith.
     Along with his wife, John is survived by two sons, John K. (Leca) Smallwood, James K. Smallwood, one sister, Dorothy Hunt, seven grandchildren, John D. Smallwood, Joshua Smallwood, Marissa Coleman, James C. Smallwood, Todd C. Smallwood, Brandon S. Smallwood, Haley M. Kimper, eight great grandchildren, John B., Kinsley, Brinley, Raeleigh, Lucas, Ryker, Cole, Athena Lou, and a host of loving family and friends.
     Visitation will be Thursday and Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.  Church services will be Friday at 7p.m.  The funeral will be Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 1 P.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with David Thacker and others officiating.  Entombment will follow in the Annie E. Young Mausoleum at Shelbiana.
