Joe Varney

Joe Varney, age 75, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022 at the Pikeville Nursing and Rehab Center. Joe was born on Sept. 13, 1947 to his parents the late Ted Edward Varney and Celia B. Harris Varney. He was a retired coal miner and a believer of the baptist faith. Along with his parents, Joe was preceded in death by two daughters, Sherry Varney and Joy Varney, two brothers, J.D. Varney, Dover Varney, and one sister, Patsy Smith. Joe is survived by three daughters, Jody (Danny) Conn, Tracy (James) Varney, Carmella (Greg) Varney, one brother, Clint Varney, one sister, Janie Bolton, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Sunday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The Funeral will be Monday, January 2, 2023 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Bobby Bowman and Ken Childers officiating. Burial will follow in the Varney Branch Cemetery.
