James Thacker

July 31, 1947 — April 24, 2024

James Thacker, age 76, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Ky. He was the husband of Sandra Kay Marrs Thacker, a retired heavy equipment operator for Clark Elkhorn Coal Company and Bizzack, and a believer of the Methodist Faith. He was born on July 31, 1947 to his parents the late Rufus Thacker and Virginia Ratliff Thacker in Floyd County, Ky.
Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by two sons, James Keith Thacker and John Kevin Thacker, one grandson, Ethan Kyle Thacker, special brother in law, Johnny Joe Marrs, one niece and one nephew.
Along with his wife, James is survived by two grandchildren, Koey Paige Thacker and Jacob Tanner Thacker, and a host of loving family and friends.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
