James Walter Sullivan, age 75, passed away Friday, October 4, 2024 at his home. Walter was born on January 3, 1949 to his parents the late Bill Sullivan and Tina Pugh Sullivan. He was the husband of Nannie Spears Sullivan, a retired truck driver, and a member of the Jesus Tabernacle Church of Fed's Creek. He also was a musician and played with Bluegrass Cousins and Mountain Harmony. Walter served his country honorably in the United States Army during Vietnam War.
Along with his parents, Walter was preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd, Billy, John Wayne, and Donnie Earl Sullivan, and three sisters, Judy Scott, Ethel Damron, and Betty Carol.
Along with his wife, Walter is survived by four children, Priscilla (Jack) Newsome, Brittney (Seth) Reed, William Jesse Sullivan, Anthony James Sullivan, one step daughter, Christy (Larry) Haley, one brother, Melvin Sullivan, three sisters, Rita Freeman, Janet Fuller, Garnet Jean Sullivan, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Saturday and Sunday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Monday, October 7, 2024 at 1 P.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Hobert McCoy and other officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
