James "Jimmy" Crum, 75 of Aschamp, Kentucky passed away October 18, 2025, at Pikeville Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Shawna Potter Crum and the father of Brandon (Stephanie) and Joshua (Kellie) Crum of Pikeville, Kentucky. Together, Jimmy and Shawna shared 54 years of marriage denoted by faith, devotion, and love.
Born to the late William Crum and Rosalie (Wallace) Crum of Aschamp, Kentucky, Jimmy attended Elkhorn City Highschool and was a part of the graduating class of 1968. As a graduate, he worked countless hours as a coal miner, equipment operator, boss, and most importantly as a father.
Jimmy attended Hylton Freewill Baptist where he followed Christ in baptism, announcing Jesus as his Lord and Savior. In his lifetime, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, fellowshipping, attending his grandchildren's ball games, and driving up in the hollow where he found God. Jimmy will be remembered not only as a father, husband, and grandfather, but as a man—a man with an open ear, a man with true grit, a man with compassion, and a man who loved to talk.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Carol Crum, and one brother, Frank Crum. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife and two sons, as well as his siblings: Delbert Crum of Pikeville, William Crum of Elkhorn City, Mary Lou Sifers of Elkhorn City, and Martha Lee Gilbert of Raleigh, North Carolina. Jimmy is also survived by his grandchildren: Gabriel Madison Crum, Zachary James Crum, Gavin Cole Crum, Kaden Joshua Crum, James Grey Crum, Kenley Addison Crum, and Zayla Shawn Crum of Pikeville.
The visitation will be held at Lucas and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 21 st, at 6:00 PM for the family and 7:00 PM for the community. Following the visitation, the funeral will be held at Hylton Freewill Baptist on Wednesday, October 22nd at 1 PM, and the burial at Potter Family Cemetery thereafter.
