d. September 5, 2025

Shelbiana

Helen Coleman, passed away peacefully at her home on September 5, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on July 31, 1951, Helen was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and compassion touched the lives of many.

Helen dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating a loving home. She found joy in her role as a mother to her two daughters, Valerie (Robert) Huffman and Nichole Coleman, instilling in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and faith. Her devotion extended grandly, as she embraced the roles of grandmother to Josie Huffman, Robert (Sarah) Huffman II, Jessica (Justin) Huffman Hazelwood, and Bradley Huffman, as well as great-grandmother to Isaac Huffman, Harper Harris, Marlei Hazelwood, and Ryleigh Smith. Each of her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Helen was also a member of the Shelby Valley Church of Christ, where she engaged deeply with her community and shared her faith with others. Her commitment to her church and its values served as a cornerstone of her life and was an extension of her nurturing spirit.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Harless Coleman and Pluma Green Coleman, her husband Glenn Marrs, and her brothers Walter, Herman, Homer, Foster, Larry, and Gary Coleman. These losses were significant in her life, and her memory of them lived on in her heart.

Helen is survived by her loving sisters, Joyce Coleman Curry, Cleo Thacker, and Opal James as well as her children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who carry forward her legacy of love and family.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 7 and Monday, September 8, 2025, at Shelby Valley Church of Christ from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM each evening with church services beginning at 7:00 PM nightly.  The funeral service will be conducted on September 9, 2025, at Shelby Valley Church of Christ at 11:00 AM, with entombment at Annie E. Young Mausoleum to follow.

Helen Coleman will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know her. Her legacy of love, faith, and dedication to family will endure in the hearts of all she touched.
