Glema Thomas

     Glema Bartley Thomas, age 96, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024 at the Pikeville Nursing and Rehab Center.  She was born on Dec. 17, 1927 to her parents the late Albert "Abb" Bartley and Essie Ratliff Bartley.  She was the wife of the late Clarence "Tatts" Thomas, a loving wife, mother, homemaker, and an excellent cook.  She was a member of the Alleghany Freewill Baptist Church.  After her husband's passing, Glema became an avid traveler.  She saw most of the United States and several countries with her friends from the 55-plus bank club.  

      Along with her husband and parents, Glema was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry and Randy Thomas, one grandson, Courtney Thomas, one brother, Victor Bartley, and five sisters, Faye Applebee, Florine Klimaszewski, Shoma Dean Rowe, Anna Rae Barnette, and Dorothy Rowe.

     Glema is survived by one daughter, Patricia "Patty" (Mike) Davidson, two brothers, Alex Bartley, Roger Bartley, two sisters, Evelyn Fowler, Sue Freeman, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and eleven great'great'grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends who will miss her dearly.

     Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.. The funeral will be Friday, Sept. 20, 2024 at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park.
