Gerald G. Martin

Gerald G. Martin, age 88, of Regina, Ky., passed away on October 19, 2022, at the Pikeville Medical Center. Gerald was born in Dickenson County, Va. on August 6, 1934, to his parents the late Meredith (M.J.) Martin and Georgie Priscilla Long. Gerald served his Country Honorably in the United States Army for 20 plus years with seven and half years in active combat. He was awarded the Silver Star, five Bronze Stars, numerous awards while serving his Country. He was also a Kentucky Colonel Gerald was a member of the Sulphur Springs Church of Elkhorn City. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Martin, several brothers and sisters. Gerald is survived by a son, Ed Martin (Bonnie), a daughter, Debbie Thacker (Marvin), a brother, Mack Martin. Also survived by four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 6:00 PM at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with special evening services Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 PM. Funeral will be Monday, October 24, 2022, at 1:00 PM at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Brother Terry Gibson and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana, Ky. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sulpher Springs Church, 965 West Russell St. Elkhorn City, Ky. 41522.
