It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Lee "Little Bubby" Branham, who left us peacefully on December 10, 2025, at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born on January 6, 1947, in Pikeville, Kentucky, to the late Andrew Branham and Billie Joyce Sword Branham, Gary was a cherished member of his community and a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend.
Gary dedicated his career to the coal industry, working tirelessly for both the Beth-Elkhorn Coal Company and the Island Creek Coal Company. His commitment to his work and his colleagues reflected the strength and resilience he exhibited throughout his life. In addition to his professional achievements, Gary served his country honorably in the United States during the Vietnam War, where he demonstrated bravery and a deep sense of duty that would continue to inspire those who knew him.
Family was everything to Gary. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Bolton Branham, who stood by him through life's many adventures. He is also survived by his loving sister, Linda Jean Newsome, and a plethora of nieces and nephews who adored him: Ala Jo Collins, Pageant Justice, Velvet Johnson, Jeffrey Bartley, Chris Bartley, James Hamilton, Josh Collins, and Lincoln Sowards and a special great niece, Olivia Green. Each of them carries fond memories of Gary that will live on in their hearts, reminding them of his warmth, kindness, and the humor that lit up every gathering.
Gary's passions were as vibrant as his personality. He found joy in the great outdoors, whether that meant hunting, riding his ATV, or cruising on his Harley motorcycle. He had an appreciation for classic cars, which reflected his nostalgic spirit and love for adventure. Such hobbies brought him closer to nature and his loved ones, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.
Though Gary has departed from this world, his spirit lives on through the lives of those he touched. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Edward Branham, and his beloved nephew and niece, Brandon Bartley and Amy Slone. Their memories will also keep his legacy alive as they shared the joys and challenges of family life together.
