FloAnn Mullins Young

FloAnn Mullins Young, 83, of Pikeville, KY, passed away Wed., Sept. 9, 2026, following an extended illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Anse and Effie Hamilton Mullins, her beloved husband, Ronald Tyronne Young, sister Judy Carol Mullins, nephew John Gregory Fields, and two brothers-in-law, Delaney Bowling and Rick Hatfield.

 FloAnn was a retired public-school teacher and librarian. She graduated from Pikeville College in 1964 with a B.A. in Education and earned her master’s degree in library science from Eastern Kentucky University in 1975. She worked within the Pike County and Paintsville City public school systems for over 30 years, impacting the lives of countless students and helping to shape the educational landscape of eastern Kentucky.

 She is survived by her daughter Robyn Young Morrison (Brian), of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandson Kayne Alexander Young, of Sasuki, Japan; granddaughter Scarlett Rhiannon Morrison, of Chicago, IL; sisters Lois Mullins Fields (William) of Virgie, KY, Evelyn Mullins Damron (Bobby) of Jonancy, KY, Linda Lou Mullins Bowling of Jonancy, KY, and Sharon Mullins Hatfield of Paintsville, KY; a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends. 

Services will be under the direction of Lucas & Sons Funeral Home in Pikevlle, KY, followed with interment at Mullins Family Cemetery in Jonancy, KY. Flowers and plants are always welcome, but as a lifelong librarian, FloAnn was passionate about literacy and literature. Donations to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library fund in her honor will be deeply appreciated.

Visitation will be Tuesday September 15, 2026, from 11 AM -1 PM at Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral will start at 1 PM. with Paul Potter officiating. Burial will be at Mullins Family Cemetery in Jonancy, KY.
