Dianna Doris Newsom, born on August 22, 1953, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026. Her life was marked by a remarkable commitment to her community, her family, and the many roles she embraced with grace and dedication.
A proud graduate of Betsy Layne High School, along with Mayo Vocational School and Millard Vocational School, Dianna's youth was filled with vibrant achievements. She was not only a cheerleader but also honored as homecoming queen at Betsy Layne High School, reflecting her spirited nature and the cherished place she held among her peers. Her life was also deeply grounded in faith; a devoted member of the Melvin Church of Christ, she was baptized in 1974, a testament to her spiritual journey and the values she lived by.
Professionally, Dianna served her community with warmth and care as a cafeteria cook at Shelby Valley High School, where she nourished countless students with her meals and kindness. Prior to this, she was employed at Pikeville Medical Center, contributing her efforts to the well-being of others in the medical field.
Dianna is lovingly remembered by her children: Eurlana "Lana" Beth Hall, Lloyd Keith Newsom, and Russell Todd Newsom. She is also survived by her sister, Madlyn Spears, and her brother, Anthony Jr. "Junebug" Newsome. These close familial bonds were a cornerstone of her life, providing joy and companionship. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Newsome and Elva Isaacs Newsome, as well as her siblings, Deborah Raye Reynolds, and Layton Newsome.
The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation on March 23, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. at Lucas & Son Funeral Home, located at 2931 US Highway 23 S, Pikeville, KY. Her funeral service will follow on March 24,2026, at 1:00 PM, at Lucas and Son Funeral Home, and burial will follow at the Amos Newsom Cemetery, Little Robinson Creek, Robinson Creek, KY 41562, where she will be laid to rest.
Dianna Doris Newsom’s life was a testament to compassion, dedication, and community spirit. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory be a blessing and her soul find eternal peace.
