Denise Justice Adkins

   Denise Justice Adkins, age 68, of Pikeville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home, in her daughter's arms on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at her home. Denise was born on October 28, 1956, to James (Jim C.) and Jacqueline Justice.

   Denise devoted her entire career to serving all of the families of Eastern Kentucky. She was a retired supervisor for the Cabinet of Health and Family Services and was very passionate about protecting all victims of domestic violence and ensuring all children of the Commonwealth had a safe and nurturing home. Whether working with children or adults, she had much empathy and compassion for all of her coworkers and every case she was involved in leaving a lasting impact for so many.

   Survived by two loving children, Jordan James Adkins of Louisville, Kentucky, and Jade (Matthew) Phillips of Pikeville, Kentucky; three brothers, James C. (Melinda) Justice Jr., Thomas (Judy) Justice, and Timothy (Bernie) Justice; four cherished grandchildren, Jaxton Timothy George Hunter, Jace Justice Hunter, Josie Marie Phillips, and Jent Bentley Hunter; and a host of loving family and friends.

   Denise is preceded in death by her loving parents, James (Jim C.) and Jacqueline Justice; her angel baby, Jaycee; her devoted lifelong partner, and husband of 43 years, George A. Adkins.

   Visitation will be Monday at 6 P.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Monday at 7 P.M. The funeral will be Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 12:00 Noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Paul D. Potter officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana.
