Dencil Dotson, age 85, of Pikeville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at the Pikeville Medical Center. He was born on November 20, 1939, the son of the late Charlie and Pricey Estep Dotson.

Before his retirement, Dencil was a self employed diesel mechanic, and the owner of Pikeville Truck Parts, and former co-owner of Dotson Repair Service.

Dencil is survived by his wife, Sandra Carpenter Dotson, and their eight children. His children include six daughters: Tammy Strong, Lisa (Hagan) Bush, Jill (Randy) Dotson-Bryant, Penny (Tommy) Dotson, Sandy Lea Dotson and Hannah Marie Dotson; and two sons: Mark Dotson and Luke Dotson. He is survived by three sisters, Eula Faye, Dorothy, and Marie, and by one brother, Charlie (Betty) Dotson Jr. He loved and will be missed by his many grandchildren: Jimmy, Kendra, Ashley, Miranda, Cody, Evan, Micaela, Meghan, Emily, Connor, Abby, Dustin, Grace, and Jaxon; and also by his great-grandchildren, Maddix, Finley, Nolan, Easton, Paisley, Piper, Phoenix, Charlie, Reese, and soon-to-be Kolsen, Jett, and Lincoln. He will also be greatly missed by his constant companion, Sassy.

In honoring his wishes, a public service will not be held. If Dencil touched your life in some way, the family hopes that you will share your memories on the tribute wall or in a private message to them so that they can share them at their private ceremony.
