Charles "Bud" Compton

March 3, 1938 — February 26, 2024

     Charles "Bud" Compton, age 85, passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2024 at the Pikeville Medical Center.  He was born on March 3, 1938 to his parents the late James Archie Compton and Mary Francis Fleming Compton.  He was the husband of Mary Lou Maynard Compton, a retired truck driver for over twenty five years for R.H. Hobbs Company, retired electrician for over forty years, and retired Tech from Pike County Board of Education.  He was also a member of the Pikeville Freewill Baptist Church.

     Along with his parents, Bud was preceded in death by one daughter, Sheila Compton, three sisters, one infant, Barbara Faye Akers, Patty Harmer,  and six brothers, Teddy, John, Quentin, Bobby, Mark,and Jerry Compton.

      Bud is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, one son, Darrin (Rita) Compton, one sister, Buncie Bryant, four grandchildren, Benjamin Craig Compton, Chasity Hope Newsom, Makayla Faith Skeans, Christa Noell Baker, seven great grandchildren, Marshall, Maverick, Gracelin, Taylor, Elijah, Lincoln, and Clay, and a host of loving family and friends. who will miss him dearly.

     Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday at 6p.m.  Church services will be Wednesday and Thursday at 7p.m.  The funeral will be Friday, March 1, 2024 at 12  Noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Jim Patton and others officiating.  Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
