Billy Dean Prater

Billy Dean Prater, age 73, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023 at his home. Billy was born on Feb. 6, 1950 to his parents the late George Prater and June Justice Prater. He was the husband of Pamela Coleman Prater, a heavy equipment operator in the coal mining industry, and a believer of the Christian Faith. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Marines. Along with his parents, Billy was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Gene Prater and George Clayton Prater. Along with his wife, Billy Dean is survived by two sons, Jerry Neal (Terrie) Prater, George Lester (Kendra) Prater, one daughter, Billie Jean Bevins, two brothers, Samuel R. (Jean) Prater, James J. (Penny) Prater, two step brothers, Timmy Eden Owens & Benny Owens, two step sisters, Vivian Wallace & Paula (James) Rowe, eleven grandchildren, Kierra, Jeremiah, Jessica, Emma, Mason, Jaxen, Ryder, Grant, Benjamin, Andrew, Aeryn, a special family friend, Paul David (Loretta) Collins, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 11 A.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Teddy Honaker and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
