Betty Jewel Thacker

   Betty Jewel Thacker, age 79, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024 at her home.  Betty was born on July 27, 1944 to her parents the late Estil Epling and Carrie Rowe Epling.  She was the wife of the late Eugene Thacker, a homemaker, and a member of Blessed Hope Freewill Baptist Church.   Betty was lovingly known as Mamaw Betty by everyone.  
    Along with her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil, Chester, and Bobby Epling, and two sisters, Ruth Ruby and Cloa Chaney. 
     Betty is survived by one daughter, Carrie Eugenia (Kenneth) Mullins, one son, Donnie (Trisha) Thacker, two sisters, Dorothy Thompson, Lavonne Smith, five grandchildren, Kenisha Mullins, Alexis (Nick) Slone, Destiny Thacker, Dillon Spears, Cody Spears, eight great grandchildren, Maverick Slone, Cayden Spears, Alex Spears, Braxtyn Spears, Asher Spears, and Marcus Spears, Aubrey Stone, Emma Stone, and a host of loving family and friends.
     Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home.  Church services will be Wednesday at 7p.m. with Chris Bartley officiating.  The funeral will be Thursday at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Tommy England officiating.  Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana.
