Bernice Proffitt

Bernice Goode Proffitt, age 76, of Feds Creek Rd, Steele, Ky, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at her residence. Bernice was born on Sept. 2, 1943 to her parents the late Earl Goode and Bertha Miller Thomas. She was the wife of Mike Proffitt, a homemaker, and a member of the Jesus Tabernacle Church of Steele, Ky. Along with her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by one son, Paul Bennett Looney, one sister, Earlene Lester and brother in law, Earl Lester. Along with her husband, Bernice is survived by two daughters, Julia Looney of Nicholasville, Ky., Tracy (David) Hunt of Destin, Florida, two sons, James "Jimmy" (Cindy) Looney of Belcher, Ky., Jason Proffitt of Nicholasville, Ky., one brother, James "PeeWee" (Joan) Goode of Julian, WV., one sister, Elender Miller (Foye) Davis of London, Ky., half brother, Paul Howard Menge of Halstad, MN., seven grandchildren, Paige Hunt, Jordan Looney, Kayla (Richard) Blair, Lakan (Jordan) Mullins, Hannah Hunt, Dustin (Andrea) Looney, Savannah Looney, twelve great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at Jesus Tabernacle Church at Steele, Ky., Church services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Thursday July 30, 2020 at 12 noon at the Jesus Tabernacle Church with Hobert McCoy officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mt. View Memorial Garden Mausoleum at Big Rock, Va.
