Beatrice Griffith Keene

November 19, 1934 — November 9, 2025

Mouthcard

Beatrice G. Keene, 90, of Mouthcard, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at Pikeville Medical Center on Sunday, November 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 19, 1934, in Johns Creek, Kentucky, Beatrice was the daughter of Frank and Eunice Griffith. She graduated from Feds Creek High School and married the love of her life, Marcum Keene, on January 21, 1956. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. Beatrice dedicated 42 years as a bookkeeper for Griffith Coal Company, retiring in 2000.

A devoted member of Mountain View Church of Christ, Beatrice lived her faith through service and hospitality. She was the heart of her home and the anchor of her family—always hosting Sunday dinners, organizing reunions, and making sure everyone felt cared for. Her kitchen was a place of constant motion and comfort; she never sat down until every plate was full and every need met.

Beatrice was known for her sparkling sense of humor, her love of game shows and Candy Crush, and her impeccable attention to cleanliness—her home was always welcoming and beautifully kept. Late in life, she found special joy watching her grandson Mark’s baseball career. Many hours were spent watching his games on TV, and when possible, in person. Also, special during these years was the opportunity to help raise her grandson Will, cherishing the chance to watch him grow and knowing he would carry on the family name.

Her greatest joy came from simply being with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt whose warmth and strength will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marcum, her parents, two great-grandsons Jayme Tyler Stanley and Chase Caudill, four brothers—Corbet, Ertle, Arlan, and Elmo—and four sisters—Lola, Pinnie, Sophia, and Shelby.

Beatrice is survived by her children: Phillip Keene of Feds Creek, Kentucky; Tammy (Greg) Reynolds of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and William Brett (Tyan) Keene of Pikeville, Kentucky. She leaves behind seven grandchildren: Shellie (Shawn) Looney of Big Rock, Virginia; Jessica (Travis) Caudill of Feds Creek, Kentucky; Mark (Kathleen) Reynolds of Charlotte, North Carolina; Kelli Farmer of Pikeville, Kentucky; Kyle (Courtney) Reynolds of Phoenix, Arizona; and Isabella and Will Keene of Pikeville, Kentucky. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, her brother Herbert Leo Griffith of Lexington, Kentucky, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Mountain View Church of Christ in Lick Creek, Kentucky, with Steve Cantrell officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain View Church of Christ, 21290 Card Mountain Road, Lick Creek, KY 41540.
