Anna Francis Adkins, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at her residence on May 7, 2026. Born on August 10, 1947, in Monticello, Kentucky, Anna lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and deep love for her family.
Anna devoted many years as a station manager for Coleman Oil, where her commitment to responsibility and service left a lasting impression. She later transitioned to a role that reflected her nurturing spirit, becoming a cook within the Glasgow City School system. There, she provided nourishment and care to countless children until her well-earned retirement.
Anna’s enduring spirit lives on in her loving husband, Ed Adkins, and their children, James (Kim) Adkins and Christina Taylor. She was a doting grandmother to Ashley Nichole Adkins, Chelsey Elizabeth Adkins, Brittany Taylor, and Jessica Slayton, who carry forward her legacy of kindness and devotion. Her great-grandchildren, Landyn Gregg, Emerson Gregg, Colbie Gregg, Victoria Davidson, Anna Marie Slayton, and Grayson Slayton, were a constant source of joy and reflected the deep roots of family she cherished so dearly.
She also leaves behind her siblings Paul Hicks, Roger Hicks, Sylvia Davidson, Juanita Campbell, and Sheila Harvey, along with her brother-in-law Jimmy Jack (Avonelle) Adkins. Anna’s life was further enriched by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended relatives who knew her as a pillar of strength and warmth.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Hicks and Luzadie Hardwick Hicks, and her siblings Bobby Hicks, Louie Hicks, Roy Hicks, and Barbara Hurt.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026 after 6 PM at the Greasy Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will resume on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at the Greasy Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Jimmy Jack Adkins and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Shelbiana.
Special services will be held on Monday and Tuesday evenings at 7 PM.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all those who provide comfort and support during this time. Anna Francis Adkins will be remembered with great respect and affection for her tireless dedication to family and community, a true testament to a life well lived.
