Alma Jean Wamsley

Alma Jean Wamsley, age 86, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024 at the Pikeville Medical Center.  Alma was born on May 18, 1938 to her parents the late Admiral Dewey Atkinson and Eula Blanche Hanschumacher Atkinson.  She was the wife of the late Charles Mathews, a nurse, and a member of the Brutus Baptist Church in Clay County, Ky.

     Along with her husband and parents, Alma was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Atkinson.

     Alma is survived by one son, Bruce Charles (Cheryl) Mathews, two daughters, Betsy Jean (John) Morris, Bonita Sue (David) Robinson, one sister, Anna Ruth Jonas, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends.

     There will be a private family memorial service.
