James Palmer Ratliff

James Palmer Ratliff, age 86 passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at the Eastern Ky. Veterans Center in Hazard, Ky. James was born on August 22, 1926 to his parents the late Virgil Ratliff and Ollie Mullins Ratliff. He was the husband of Genevieve Ratliff, a retired coal miner operator and mgr., and a believer of the Southern Baptist Faith. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by one brother, Blake Ratliff. Along with his wife, James is survived by two sons, Jim Ratliff of Pikeville, Jerry Ratliff of Pikeville, one step daughter, Wanda Williams of Michigan, one sister, Marie Childers of Allen, Ky., six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday from 6p.m. to 9p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at 1:30p.m. at the Immanuel Baptist Church with Mike Sander and Arnold Turner officiating. The burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park.
