Roy Goff

Roy Goff, born November 29, 1919, passed away on May 10, 2011 at his home with family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Henry Goff, sisters Racine Damron, Arlene Chaney, and many beloved kitty cats. He is survived by loving wife, Sally Layne Goff, children, Judy Keene (Larry), Linda Leslie, Mike (Sandy) Goff, Leslie (Keith) Sultana, and Greg Goff. Grandchildren; Lara Keene, Pat Keene II, Larry David Keene Jr., Janet Leslie Yates, Melanie Leslie Cooke, J. Christopher Leslie, Seth Goff, Bethany Goff Tavis, Dominic Sultana, Ethan Sultana, Jonathan Sultana, and thirteen great grandchildren. Roy was a prominent business owner of the Goff furniture Store in Pikeville, Ky for 50 plus years. Roy was much loved and lived a very full life. He was born and raised in the Yeager area and had a true entrepreneurial spirit. As a young man he sold produce, which led to a career selling insurance. Ultimately, Roy opened Goff Furniture with his father Henry, which became his life's profession. The store has been in operation for 50 plus years and is currently Creg Damron Furniture and is operated by family members. Upon graduation from Virgie High School, Roy joined the Army and was invited to join the Air Force. He was stationed in Newburg, NY. Roy loved creative pursuits as well, especially music. He played a trumper for a "Big Band" and conducted a small orchestra in Virginia. He was also passionate about the Cincinnati Reds, animals of all types, and golf. Roy led a very full and long life, but always felt his greatest achievement was his family. Roy will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday May 12, 2011 at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday May 13th, 2011 at 2p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Brother Paul Badgett officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park.
